What is Forest School?

Forest School is a nature-based learning opportunity that focuses on the learning and development of the whole child. It is a fun and interactive learning space that includes every child.

There are many benefits for children, these include:
- Opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills.
- Opportunities to take risk and improve problem solving skills.
- Opportunities to develop self-regulation by learning from failure and bouncing back.
- Opportunities to celebrate success and achievement.

Here at Westwoodside Primary Academy, we throughly enjoy our Forest School sessions in Reception. It is lovely to observe the engagement and interactions during our sessions. Forest School has the ability to hook all children and even those who may be a little shy in the indoor classroom environment. These sessions are highly motivational for the children and are based around imagination and age appropriate interests.
