Subject Intent Statement:

At Westwoodside Academy we provide a high quality science education that provides children with the foundations they need to recognise the importance of science in every aspect of daily life. We want our children to have a love of learning in science and appreciate how science has changed the lives of human beings; we also believe that it is important that our children know that science is vital to the world’s future prosperity.

We have adopted the White Rose Science scheme

Why we chose to use White Rose Science.

Over many years our school has successfully worked with White Rose Maths. We believe that the small steps approach has been effective in securing new maths concepts and our teachers value the carefully sequenced teaching resources. To this end, we have made the decision to work with White Rose Science as we believe that these schemes of work align with our school's intent: that science teaching should nuture the following- enquiry based learning, collaboration through researching, investigating and evaluating experiences. In addition we also value the way that White Rose have woven an understanding of sustainability throughout every year groups' learning.
