Welcome to the Worship Council 2022-2023
Who are we?
Every year children are elected by their class to become members of our Worship Council. Because we are a Church of England school, our role is to help our school community understand and enjoy worshipping God.
What will our roles be in school this acedemic year?
Our role is to help our school evaluate collective worships throughout the year, and to find ways to develop our Christian character. We want to support our school as we learn and live out our values of: Love, Respect, Hope, Perseverance, Thankfulness, Compassion and Friendship.
We aim to improve our church school through many different roles, these include:
- Help to choose worship songs linked to our values and key celebrations.
- Share ideas with our class for new prayers including: dinner grace and end of day prayer.
- Think and talk about the church vision and values of our school and how it can be further improved.
- Go on learning walks to monitor reflective displays.
- Share ideas and plan sponsored events to raise money for charities that are important to our school and families.
- Help to lead collective worship throughout the year.
Why do we want to be on the Worship Council?
These are some of the things that we said...
“I want to be on the Worship council because I like singing songs and I know I can help choose some good songs for worship time.”
“My family believe in God and I could share some new dinner prayers from home in school.”
“I think I would be good on the Worship council because I want to help people in need by raising money for charities. I am a kind person and I think I can help other children to understand the school values. I love to help others and like giving my time to those who need it.”
"I have good strength of friendship and I think I can show my friends how to follow the school values. I am a good listener and like hearing other people’s opinions. I think I will be good at sharing my ideas too.”
"I am looking forward to giving ideas to raise money for charities because I enjoy doing this at home with my family.”
"I am a good listener and I am confident to talk in front of big groups which will help when we plan and deliver a whole school worship."
"I am a good role model for others"
"I want to be a Worship councillor because I want everyone to understand and use the school values so that we have a nice school for everyone."
"I am looking forward to the worship meetings as I am a good problem solver. I think I can help make decisions."
"I would really like to help plan to raise money for different charities because I am a kind and caring person. I have a passion in animals and I think the Worship Council will give me the opportunity to raise money for animals in need."
Building a community space...
The Worship Council met at the beginning of the Acedemic year to discuss different areas of the school and what they would like to change. Together they decided that they wanted to change the space in the entrance hall, to make a bigger display for the worship council.
Together as a team, they have developed a reflective tree which includes the voice of every child in our school. The council decided to focus on this half terms values of thankfulness, and each child has written on a leaf what they are thankful for. The aim of this display is to show our school community as one.
